Mrs. Vermell Williams Baxter, wife of Addis Titus Baxter, entered into rest March 18, 2018 at Doctor’s Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, March 22, 2018, at Kiokee Baptist Church with the Reverend Steve Hartman officiating. Burial will follow at Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens, Thomson, GA. A native of Houston Co., AL., Mrs. Baxter was a longtime resident of Appling. She owned and operated Vermell’s Beauty Shop and was the Treasurer of the Columbia Co. Historical Society. Mrs. Baxter was a member of Kiokee Baptist Church. Additional survivors include her two daughters, Rochelle Baxter Daniel (David) and Shannon Baxter Wilson (Ronny); a brother, Bobby Williams (Rosilind); a sister, Joyce Griffin (the late Ralph Griffin); one grandson, Titus Moye Daniel. She was preceded in death by her brother, George Williams. Active pallbearers will be Titus Daniel, David Daniel, Ronny Wilson, Tony Hughes, Pete Knox and Pete LaPierre. Honorary pallbearers will be the Tracy McDaniel Sunday School Class. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, March 21, 2018 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM.
