Tonie Dean Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

CMSgt Tonie H Dean was born on December 3, 1931 in Meridian, MS and died on January 3, 2021 in Augusta, GA. He was a loving and devoted husband, father and friend to those who knew him. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday January 8, 2021 at Bellevue Memorial Gardens, 4501 Wrightsboro Rd, Grovetown, GA 30813, Reverend Ken Sheppard, brother in law, officiating. CMSgt Dean graduated from Collinsville High School, Collinsville, MS, earned several college credits toward an Associate Degree while serving in the USAF where he served for almost 24 years in aircraft maintenance, earning a Bronze Star during the Viet Nam War and other medals and decorations during his career. Upon retiring from the Air Force, he worked for 20 years at Litton Industries, Ingalls Ship Yard Pascagoula, MS as a machinist inspector on Ticonderoga and Spruance Class Destroyers along with Landing Helicopter Assault Ships. He leaves behind his son, Lt Col Jerry Dean, USAF (Ret) (Paula); four granddaughters, Lanina Dodson (Jonathon), Christina Daniels (Dontrel), Jeri Ann Beckworth (Corey), Sara Barry (Allen), and two grandsons, Thomas Dean (Kimberly) and Kevin Dean (Erika); 11 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren; brothers in law Robert Johnson (Marcy); four sisters in law; Gail Furr (Carl Ray) , Gloria Marble (Charles), Mary Cowen (Gerald) and Billie Sheppard (Ken). CMSgt Dean is preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Johnson Dean; son Johnny R. Dean; father Tonie S. Dean, mother Mary E. Dean, brother Donald Dean, brothers in law Dan Johnson, Watts Johnson and Charles Marble; nephews, Nicholas Marble and Carl Ray Furr Jr.; and sister in law, Jane Johnson. CMSgt Dean was a 32nd Degree Master Mason and a member of the Scottish Rite of Free Masonry. He received his 50 Year Apron in 2018. He was an ordained deacon and served several Baptist churches since the mid-70s, the last one being Grove First Baptist Church. The things Tonie enjoyed most was being a Servant for the Lord, father, husband, grandfather, fishing, watching sports, and spending quality time with family and friends. He was loved and adored by those who knew him. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Grove First Baptist Church, 108 W. Robinson Ave, Grovetown GA 30813.
