Mrs. Louise Burns Otts, 102, went to be with the Lord Friday, December 10, 2021. She was married to the late Sherman R. Otts for 46 years. She was the daughter of the late Daisy and John Burns. Mrs. Otts was preceded in death by her son, Dr. John Otts; and daughter, Lois Faye Otts. Mrs. Otts graduated in 1939 from Brewton - Parker Baptist College and from Augusta College with a BBA. She served in the United States Army during WW II. She taught school at Newington High School. She retired from the Veterans Administration as the Assistant Director in 1979 at Fort Wayne, Indiana. Being very civic minded, she was a past State President of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees. Past President of the Metropolitan Womans Club of Augusta. Mrs. Otts was a member of Merry Weeders Garden Club of Augusta, PTA of Harlem High School, Girl Scout Leader and Boy Scout Den Mother. She was a member of Powell Baptist Church and taught Sunday School. Later she joined Hill Baptist Church of Augusta where she served on the Fellowship Club and was a Sunday School Teacher. Mrs. Otts was an avid bridge player and an active participant in various additional organizations through the years. Mrs. Otts is survived by her daughter, Bette Sue Otts; four grandchildren, John Calvin (Jessica) Otts, Jr, Dana Peoples, Scott Peoples and Sarah Freeman; six great-grandchildren, Samantha Otts, John Calvin Otts, III, William Freeman, Josephine Freeman, Katherine McLain and Melody May Martin; and many special nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held 11 AM, Tuesday, December 14, 2021 in the Chapel of Bellevue Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services. In lieu flowers, memorials may be made to Powell Baptist Church building fund, 1577 Old Appling Harlem Hwy, Harlem, GA 30814.
