Mr. James Alton Hawkins, Sr.

Mr. James Alton Hawkins, Sr. Dearing, Ga. – James Alton Hawkins, Sr. 72, entered into rest on April 13, 2016. In Celebration of Mr. Hawkins’ life, the family will receive friends from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM on Saturday, April 16, 2016, at Starling-Evans Funeral Home, Harlem, Ga. The family will hold a private memorial at a later date. Mr. Hawkins, a native of Thomson, Ga, was the son of the late Brooks Charles ”B.C.” and Georgia Frances Hawkins. He was a Barber at “The Main Shop” at Fort Gordon for over 50 years. He loved fishing, gardening, golf and cooking. Mr. Hawkins was a simple man and loved the simple things in life. Survivors include his five sons, James A. Hawkins, Jr., D. Scott Hawkins (Pamela), William Drew Hawkins, (Leslie), Clinton Travis Hawkins, and Brooks Christopher Hawkins; Seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a grandchild, Will Hawkins and one sister, Beverly Davis.
