George Washington "Mickey" Moore, 91, father of Larry Moore, passed away on January 31, 2021 at Doctor's Hospital in Augusta Ga. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, February 3, 2021 in the Harlem Memorial Gardens, Harlem, Ga. with the Reverend Shirley Suarez officiating. Mr. Moore, a lifelong resident of Columbia County, was the son of the late Dewey and Annie Lee Moore. He was retired from the Columbia County Board of Education where he was a school bus driver and later ended his career in maintenance. He loved camping in Florida and in the mountains of North Georgia near Hiawassee. "Grandpa Mickey" loved his family and will be missed. Mr. Moore was also preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Moore, second wife, Barbara Moore, his step-mother, Louise C. Moore, and a brother, D.B. Moore, Jr. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, George Larry Moore and Geniene; two brothers, Frank Moore and Gary Moore (Maureen); two sisters, Ann Parnell and Jennie Swain; two grandchildren, Shannon Burnett (Brad) and Jeff Moore (Shannon); four great-grandchildren, Anna Camille Burnett, Emery Burnett, Kade Moore and Rylee Jewell Moore; and numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorials be made to Shiloh United Methodist Church, PO Box 32, Appling, GA 30802. We ask all guests and family members attending the service to practice social distancing and if medically able, wear a mask. The family regrets that due to the pandemic, no visitation will be held.
