Clarence Nordan, Jr., 89, of Appling went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, January 12, 2022. Clarence's birthday was January 12, 1933. He was a native of Washington, D. C. He graduated from Eastern High School, Washington, DC, in 1951. Clarence served as a board member and trumpet player of the Columbia County Orchestra for several years. He retired from the United States government in federal law enforcement, in the D. C. Metropolitan Police Department and as a Secret Service agent, during the Eisenhower, Kennedy, Johnson, Nixon, Ford, Carter, and Reagan administrations. He enjoyed music and several sports. Mr. Nordan served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and was stationed at Camp Gordon. Clarence, Jr. was preceded in death by his mother, Mae Nordan; father, Clarence, Sr.; sister, Shirley Ellis; brother, Ronnie Nordan; and granddaughter, Kathryn Nordan. He is survived by his wife, Jo Ann Whitener Nordan, to whom he was married, for 67 years. He was also survived by his son, Rob (Elizabeth) Nordan; son, Bill (Melanie) Nordan; son, Ron (Cindy) Nordan; brother, Billy (Becky) Nordan; and sisters, Dianne (Rich) Miller, and Linda (Rick) Teter. Clarence had nine grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM, Friday, January 14, 2022, at the Starling Funeral Home chapel, 435 West Milledgeville Road, Harlem, Georgia, 30814 with Rev. Rob Nordan, Rev. Bill Nordan, and Rev. Ron Nordan officiating. The family will receive friends in the chapel immediately following the service. Interment will follow at a later time, at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Virginia.
