Mrs. Carolyn Howard is at home with the Lord and is whole. July 20th, 2018 was her last day on earth and her first day in heaven. She was born on March 3rd, 1942. A native of Columbia County, Georgia, she attended school in Harlem. She is survived by her son, Douglas Judson Howard and daughter-in-law April Howard of Simpsonville, SC. She is also survived by four grandchildren: Benjamin, Jeremiah, Melanie and Bryan Howard; four great-grand children: Abigail, Joshua, Alex and Mason Howard; one sister: Mrs. Ann Phillips Martin, Augusta, Georgia, and two brothers: Daniel (Lousie) Cason, Dearing, Georgia, and John Wayne (Margaret) Cason, Harlem, Georgia. Mrs. Howard was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Dr. Doug Howard and by her parents, Mr. & Mrs. Leonard Wall (Frances) Cason Sr., a son, Douglas McArthur Howard, Jr., two sisters: Mrs. Alice Faye Cason Brown, and Mrs. Stella Cason Williams, and one brother: Leonard Wall (Bo) Cason JR. Mrs. Howard loved children and served with her husband, Dr. Doug Howard, in the Christian ministry for over 30 years. Both Dr. and Mrs. Howard’s life goal was teaching the Bible to others so that they could have the joy and peace of personally knowing Jesus Christ. After serving with her husband in pastorates in Alabama and Georgia, God called them as missionaries to Johannesburg, South Africa where they served for over 24 years with Baptist International Missions. They established three indigenous churches: Antioch Baptist Church, Tabernacle Baptist Church and New Covenant Baptist Church, and started a Bible College to train national pastors and teachers to take the Gospel to their own people.They were also a Representative for the Society for Distributing Hebrew Scriptures, based in England, and distributed Hebrew Scriptures to the Jewish Community of Johannesburg. Since 2010, they have faithfully served the Lord at Tabernacle Baptist Church in several capacities. The Receiving of Friends will be Friday, July 27th at 3:00 pm and the funeral will follow at 4:00 pm at Tabernacle Baptist Church, 3931 White Horse Rd, in Greenville, SC. In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Tabernacle Baptist Missions International in memory of Mrs. Carolyn Howard. A Graveside Service will be held Saturday, July 28th at 11:00 a.m. at Silver Run Baptist Church, 5406 GA HWY 221 SE, Harlem, GA. 30814 with the Rev. David Young officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. till service time at Silver Run Baptist Church.
